The administration staff consists of the Town Administrator, Town Clerk, Financial Clerk, Court Clerk, Building and Planning Technician, and Administrative Assistant.

The Town is a municipal corporation (incorporated in 1908) and a political subdivision of the State of Colorado. The Town of Parachute became a Home Rule Municipality effective May 18, 2007 after the approval of the Charter by the voters at a Special Election held May 1, 2007.

The Town of Parachute Legislative Body consists of a seven-member board, Mayor and Trustees. Town voters elect the mayor and six trustees to serve staggered four-year terms. Municipal elections are held during even numbered years on the first Tuesday in April. The Mayor and Board of Trustees are subject to term limits.

The Board of Trustees has the power to enact and provide for the enforcement of all town ordinances necessary to protect life, health and property; to declare, prevent, and summarily abate and remove nuisances, to preserve and enforce good government, general welfare, order, security of the Town, and its residents.
